About the Mr. Wilbert Knows Best Series
A Note from the Author
The Mr. Wilbert Knows Best children’s series was created in celebration of my father’s 80th birthday—a milestone that inspired me to reflect on the lessons, values, and wisdom he has shared with me throughout my life.
His teachings on responsibility, compassion, character, and everyday courage became the foundation for this collection of stories. This series is my way of honoring those gifts and passing them on to the next generation.
Through these stories, children are encouraged to:
Explore important life lessons
Build character and confidence
Practice kindness, empathy, and responsibility
Understand the value of good choices and open communication
Those same lessons continue to grow through the Young Builders series, where young readers are encouraged to put character, discipline, and good choices into action.
With love and purpose,
LaTasha
The original series
Mr. Wilbert Knows Best
Four stories inspired by LaTasha’s father, Wilbert Bond, that help young readers explore kindness, responsibility, confidence, respect, and everyday life lessons.
Mr. Wilbert’s yard is the most beautiful yard in the whole neighborhood because of its flawless appearance with clean edges, beautiful flowers and weed-free ground. His proud daughter, LaTasha wanted to assist her father with the yard maintenance responsibilities. However, LaTasha’s first attempt at grass mowing ends in a messy cut that makes her a bit embarrassed.
Will the combination of Mr. Wilbert’s soft teaching approach and a clever trick help LaTasha transform her unsteady rows into perfectly straight lines? “Mr. Wilbert Knows Best: A Yard Helper” is a captivating story that teaches us that patience combined with plenty of encouragement enables people to transform their errors into moments of triumph.
Mr. Wilbert begins his day with what he describes as a basic walk every morning. But is any walk ever really simple for the friendliest neighbor in town? How does Mr. Wilbert show himself as a good neighbor?
Join Mr. Wilbert on his adventure through “Be a Good Neighbor,” which shows how kindness lifts spirits and turns neighbors into family.
This story teaches readers through small acts of kindness how they create meaningful differences and become a good neighbor.
When Mr. Wilbert catches his daughter LaTasha laughing at her old friend Michelle with a group of teasing kids, his heart sinks. Why would LaTasha join the bullies? What made her turn on a friend she has known forever?
As Michelle walks home in tears, Mr. Wilbert knows it’s time for a serious discussion. But will LaTasha listen? Does LaTasha possess enough courage to defy the group even if it means facing solitude?
“Be Kind, Not a Bully,” is a story about kindness, courage, and making things right. Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do… is to be kind.
Everyone at the bus stop is dressed their best for picture day… everyone except Marcus. His shirt is wrinkled, his pants are sagging, and his shoes are a mess.
Will Marcus have the chance to show his best self? Or will a surprise visit from the always-sharp Mr. Wilbert change everything? Could feeling good on the outside help you shine from the inside?
“Dress To Be Your Best” is a captivating story about self-respect, confidence, and the magic of looking your best. The story serves as an inspiring story which shows that new clothes are not required to transform into a brand-new you!
Building on the lessons of Mr. Wilbert Knows Best, the Young Builders series encourages young readers to put those lessons into action—learning to Think Smart, Work Hard, Build a System, and Create Opportunity.
